The Patron Saints of Disappointment are a rebirth of the great underground post-punk bands like Fugazi and Jesus Lizard. The brain-child of Austin, Texas' Gavin Shriver, The Patron Saints (as they are more commonly referred to) are a refreshing mix of melodic, angular hardcore music that mixes well with the raw emotion of punk. The trio offer a raw, lo-fi sound that perfectly fit the name of the band, a haven for all those that are thought of as constant disappointments.
Formed in Nashville, Tennessee in January of 2011 with Gavin on guitar and vocals, Bobby Tate on drums and Caroline Yoder on bass, The Patron Saints have been performing in the Nashville bar scene ever since. Despite the more intense feel of the music, The Patron Saints have a great laid-back culture and vibe around them. This has only been possible because they do not have any unrealistic expectations about themselves or for the band. They are doing this purely for the love of their music; making the live shows great to attend because while they all want to put on a great show (and they do), it is all about having fun for them, there is no competition amongst themselves or other bands.
There is something for everyone to like about The Patron Saints. The songs are well-written and are sure to leave fans coming back for more. As mentioned before, The Patron Saints have brought back the grundge culture and act as a voice for the disenfranchised and upset.
