Is it possible for Country music to have soul? The artists of KingBilly definitely think so. Traditional bluegrass instruments, soulful singing, infusionss of rock, and blends of traditional country define the band's sound to a "tee." With hometown roots stemming from North Dakota to Arkansas, Mississippi to Georgia, from Florida all the way to Maryland, the foundation of the band was formed on the streets of Nashville, TN, where all five members currently reside today.
Before KingBilly came together as a band, lead singer, Donny Falgatter was just a little farm boy from North Dakota. While the majority of the family had musical talent and ability, noone considered making music a career until he came along.
After a childhood of dreaming, the band finally formed seven years ago after Dobro player, John, and guitarist, Josh were introduced to Donny. Today, the members of the band are Donny Falgatter (lead vocals), Josh Matheny (dobro, lap steel, vocals), Josh Osborne ("take off" guitar, vocals), Matt Utterback (bass), Kevin Weaver (drums).
KingBilly has had many accomplishments, but lead singer Donny states the one he feels is the biggest is, "still being together after seven years." They have definitely been through a lot together, including sharing the floor of a van during their over 300 date tour. They even had a special on the famed country network GAC, called "KingBilly Is Your Friend."
Currently, KingBilly is working on puting their newest album together. They are also exploring options of a possible record deal that may be coming to the table, with hopes for a new single on iTunes in the near future.
KingBilly is an amazing band with a list of accomplishments that any band would be proud of, but for them, they do it for the music. They are an incredibly talented band, a treat to see live, and have the talent and passion that will, without a doubt, make them the next big band to look out for.
