After living in California and New York, and now finding a permanent residence in Nashville’s music scene, Evan P. Donohue’s songwriting is second to none, mixing unforgettable melodies with lyrics that tell stories created by the imagination of whomever is listening. Dixie Downturn boasts of Donohue’s music as, “some of the catchiest, lush baroque pop in Middle Tennessee (dare we say, the entire Southeast)". With influences like Elvis Costello, T- Rex, Of Montreal, and The Velvet Underground, Donohue creates a modern sound with a retro feel, and coats good old-fashioned rock n’ roll with layers of tasteful pop sounds. Since the release of Donohue’s latest, and highly anticipated, full length album Rhythm and Amplitude in April, 2010, he has been subject to vast amounts of praise. Rhythm and Amplitude was voted as the number 6 album of the year by Nashville Scene, and has been featured on numerous amounts of music blogs such as “We Own This Town,” and “High-fi for Low-Fi.” Within the past year, Donohue has also: won the Belmont Univesity Rock showcase, been named as a Nashville Deli artist of the month, and placed in the top ten artists for Converse’s “Get Out of the Garage” competition.
